$2,500 SCHOLARSHIPS!!

Mission

Raise the Volume inspires, encourages, and supports Deaf students by providing information, mentoring, and tuition money for Deaf secondary educational programs.

“Deaf people can do anything that hearing people can do...except hear”

— Fredrick C. Schreiber

I got the Raise the Volume scholarship during my first year when I was struggling to even have meal. But with the scholarship, I was able to have a meal plan for the whole semester. This scholarship also motivated me to apply for more scholarships as we never know, we might get it.

Yangdu Sherpa

I transferred to a mainstream school where I was the only deaf student until graduation. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA a year earlier than I should have.

The Deaf Friendly Project

Our organization has created a small business “tool kit” in collaboration with ClearMask™ to create a more Deaf inclusive world.

Inspiring. Encouraging. Supporting.

Values

The Raise the Volume organization is committed to providing the Deaf community with financial assistance to help lower the burden of tuition costs and to support them on their educational journey.

We hope to further our purpose by:

  • Awarding scholarships to Deaf students seeking to further their education

  • Hosting community events to raise funds and awareness for higher education

  • Providing access to Deaf mentors to help guide individuals on their educational journey and encouraging students to reach their full potential

  • Raising awareness on Deaf culture

In America, nearly 10 MILLION persons are hard of hearing and 1 MILLION are functionally Deaf. Only 20 THOUSAND continue to higher education at a University.

Mentoring

Our organization offers support beyond tuition assistance to ensure students have the necessary encouragement and guidance throughout their journey.

Deaf adults, representing the full spectrum of hearing levels, hearing technology use, and communication preferences, will be virtually available to answer questions about education experiences with a hearing loss.

Scholarship Program

Raise the Volume is committed to providing students with financial support as they attend Deaf secondary educational programs.

Requirements include a current acceptance or enrollment status.

Students will be asked to submit a short application including their own personal experience with hearing loss and what they inspire to do after their graduation.

Past Events

On June 12th, Raise the Volume partnered with the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) for a walk 4 hearing. The HLAA typically hosts A 3 mile walk in NY. This year, due to COVID they canceled the walk and asked their alliances to host our own local walks. The HLAA put on a virtual zoom "celebration" and Raise The Volume had it up on a big projector screen before our event. During that time we had food and beverages supplied by local restaurants and cafes. We then had the kids do the quarter mile Summer Olympic themed obstacle course. They had a blast and when they were done they ran through the Crete paper donated by Party Package USA.

We are proud to say we exceeded our fundraising goal and had a great time.

Thank you to our sponsors! Blo Dry Bar, chanti Bernards Cafe, Monterey foods, Dunkin Donuts.
